This is the easiest way to boil eggs and one which will prevent the grey ring forming around the yolk.
Place eggs in a saucepan large enough to hold them in one layer
Add cold water to cover by one inch
Bring to the boil.
Once boiling remove from the heat and cover.
Leave to stand for the required amount of time.
Anywhere from 3 mins for soft boiled to 12 mins for hard boiled.
If using cold, once the required time has elasped, run cold water into the pan, making sure all the heat is taken out of the pan and the eggs are sitting in cold water.
They can be peeled as soon as cool enough to handle. Sometimes the shell is hard to remove, one way of loosing the shell is to crack the hot eggs immediately the cold water is used to cool them.
